and location of meetings. Mediation fees customarily range from $375 to $425 per party for half day sessions and from $500 to $650 per party for full day sessions. When mediation is convened significantly greater than 100 miles from Houston, we may request travel expense reimbursement. Typical Parenting Coordination fees range from $100 to $150 per hour allocated between the parents as appropriate. Fees may be established based upon on a time, project or package basis and are subject to adjustment upon request and when appropriate. Pro bono or sliding scale fees for mediation and parenting coordination are available. We request fees be made payable by attorney check, money order or certified funds to Hughes & Leissner, PLLC (Tax Id # 76-0650789) at the beginning of each mediation or parenting coordination session unless other agreement between the mediator and participant is reached prior to the session. Fee arrangements are disclosed and discussed in the course of scheduling and confirming mediation. Dates are generally available within 14 days of request. Full day sessions convene at 9 or 9:30 am and half day sessions convene at 1 or 1:30 pm. Sessions last until at least 5 pm with provisions for extended sessions as necessary. If a case is expected to be completed in a half day but could possibly extend into a full day session, we will schedule mediation to convene at 9 or 9:30 am and request a half day fee from each participant at the commencement of the mediation session. A time check at 12:30 will reveal whether an agreement is imminent or the process is otherwise complete. If there is consensus to continue the process, we request the difference between a half and full day fee per party and continue for the remainder of the day. Beverages and snacks are provided at half day sessions and a light picnic-style or catered meal, beverages and snacks are provided at full day sessions. We attempt to provide our signature home-made chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin cookies at every mediation. Our custom is to convene mediation in the county where the case is filed at a location selected by consensus of the parties, counsel and mediators. A number of locations are available in the greater Houston metro area as well as in many surrounding counties. We carefully screen cases to determine when staggered start times, separate entrances and/or locations are necessary for security and personal safety of participants. |
